The Big Game deserves a big book,
and Super Bowl XLOpus is massive.
Bound in leather, this 950-page tome
measures 20 by 20 inches and weighs
more than 90 pounds. You’d practically
have to be a linebacker to lift it.
But the risk of reactivating an old
high school football injury would be
worth it to flip through this limited edition Super Bowl yearbook. Each page
lavishly chronicles the past 40 years of
America’s most important sports event.
Purchase one of the 20,000 commemorative works of art at Saks Fifth
Avenue or online at krakenopus.com
for $4,000. Shopping for the truly
obsessed? Get one of the first 400 copies, signed by such Super Bowl MVPs
as Joe Namath, Terry Bradshaw, Joe
Montana, Jerry Rice and John Elway,
at the bargain price of $40,000.
Good luck getting it gift wrapped.

From the Halls

Just in time for Veterans Day,
the National Museum of the
Marine Corps will be celebrating
its opening and dedication in
Quantico, Va., just 20 miles from
Washington, D.C.
Home to more than 1,800 pho-
tographs and 5,000 artifacts,
including the Marines’ signature
AV- 8 Harrier jet, tanks, uniforms
and World War II aircraft, the
museum’s interior commemo-
rates the Corps’ 231-year history
while its façade boasts a 210-
foot-tall mast of the iconic image
ERIC LONG
of the flag raisers at Iwo Jima.
With 135 acres to cover, including
the stunning Leatherneck Gallery, strolling the grounds is akin to taking an
immersion class in what makes the Marines the few, the proud.
Opening in two phases, the site, with its environmentally friendly design,
eventually will include a restaurant and hotel, parade
grounds, an IMAX theater and Semper Fidelis Memorial
Park. If you like what you see, tell it to the Marines—
their home base is right next door.
