CRANWELL RESORT,
SPA AND GOLF CLUB
For a full-service resort stay, it’s hard
to top Cranwell. A grand estate dating
back to America’s Gilded Age, Cranwell
was owned by Henry Ward Beecher
(brother of Uncle Tom’s Cabin author
Harriet Beecher Stowe). Its grounds were
designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the
landscape architect who created New
York’s Central Park.
The buildings at Cranwell house
exceptionally large guest rooms and
suites. Most are connected by glass corridors to the 35,000-square-foot spa.
The championship 18-hole golf course
features GPS-equipped carts for duffers
without a sense of direction. In summer,
standard rooms go for $295 midweek;
$355 on weekends.
