TRAVEL TOOLS, GREAT GADGETS & COOL STUFF TO DO
You, 80? No!
In today’s age of marrying late and divorcing early, it’s
hard to imagine ever celebrating an 80th anniversary.
So you can understand why the Boston Park Plaza Hotel
and Towers is going all out to celebrate its 80th this year.
And what better way to celebrate than with a perfectly
blended beverage. No, it’s not a signature wine. (Hey,
the place isn’t in its 70s anymore!) It’s tea. That’s right,
the Boston Park Plaza is commemorating its milestone
with the 80th Anniversary Signature Tea Blend, created
by tea sommelier Cynthia Gold. Enjoy a cup at the hotel’s
Swan’s Café.
The hotel recently completed a $20 million renovation
of its concierge floor, which now includes free wireless
Internet access and use of an executive boardroom.
That’s quite a contrast to what the hotel was like when it
opened—when rooms were $3.50 to $5. Over the years,
Boston Park Plaza has been the first hotel in the city
to offer such amenities as private baths, in-room tele-
phones and occupancy signs (the predecessor to the “do
not disturb” sign). The hotel is at 50 Park Plaza at Arling-
ton Street in Boston. For reservations and information,

Let’s face it—meeting rooms are boring. With stiff chairs, long tables and
dim lights, how are your creative juices
supposed to flow?
Enter The Hub, two modern,
swanky meeting facilities in Philadelphia that can help by providing the
perfect setting for your next meeting
or after-hours event. Rooms are styled
differently so you can choose the atmosphere that best suits you, whether
it is black leather sofas, microphone-clad tables or tall, airy ceilings dotted
with studio lights.
The Hub also offers laptop rentals,
video conferencing and catered meals.
All-day or hourly room rentals can be
reserved at 877-THEHUB1. And one
of the locations, The Hub Cira Centre,
is located just outside Amtrak’s 30th
Street Station. To top it all off, The
Hub donates one percent of its proceeds to environmental causes—and
sponsored our Green Issue. For more
information, visit thehub.com.
