If you find yourself in Providence, R.I., be sure
to visit risd|works, the Rhode Island School of
Design’s innovative hybrid of retail store, gallery
and design showroom. Featuring the work of
RISD alumni and faculty, risd|works is located
in a historic building in downtown Providence,
adjacent to the RISD campus.
Between November and January,
risd|works features a small-works show,
with pieces hung salon-style in the space
and all priced below $400. All proceeds from
the sale of art at risd|works help advance the
mission of RISD to “educate its students and the
public in the creation and appreciation of works
of art and design, to discover and transmit
knowledge and to make lasting contributions
to a global society through critical thinking,
scholarship and innovation.”
If Providence isn’t on your itinerary, you
can check out risdworks.com, where a full
e-commerce section allows you to browse
the art and make selections.
