pieces from the 1860s when Renoir became
associated with Impressionists like Claude
Monet, the exhibit follows the artist’s evolution through the 1870s as he experimented
with color and composition and concludes
with work from the 1880s when Renoir’s travels to Africa and Italy inspired an intensifying
color palette in his work. Renoir’s fascination
with nature and the effects of natural light
made him a master of the landscape genre, and
his ability to capture the vibrancy and immediacy of his surroundings make these paintings
look as fresh today as when they were painted.
