All Aboard
Exceeding Expectations
It’s the height of summer—a great time to
seek out new experiences. Whether your
destination is a weekend getaway, a family
vacation or a business meeting, getting there
is part of your overall experience. At Amtrak,
it’s that concept that drives everything we do.
Our goal is not just to get you to your
destination safely and on time, but to make
sure you enjoy the trip. We want to make sure
the experience of riding with us exceeds your
expectations. A train ride is an opportunity
to relax, recharge and rejuvenate. That’s
the reason we’ve been working diligently to
improve our onboard service, make interior
renovations to our equipment and improve
our Northeast Corridor infrastructure to
ensure faster, smoother rides.
On Acela Express, we’ve expanded our
popular at-seat cart service in Business
class, which offers a variety of snacks and
beverages. You may have also already enjoyed
our new First class spring/summer menu selections. In the coming months, we’ll begin a two-year project to refurbish First and Business
class interiors with new leather seats and
new carpeting.
Additionally, you might have noted that
our former Regional service has just been
renamed Northeast Regional. Along with the
name change, we’re making an overall product
upgrade that includes refurbished Business
class seats and interiors, new and improved
menu offerings featuring fresh salads and
sandwiches, and en-route cleaning to keep the
train clean and fresh throughout the trip. The
entire Northeast Regional fleet also will have
all-table café cars, which are being centered
on the train to provide easier access for all
passengers. To further improve your experience, café cars will undergo interior cosmetic
improvements to include reupholstered
booths with more comfortable seat cushions.
Speaking of experiences, make sure to mark
your calendars for the Washington Union Station Centennial Celebration Sept. 27-28. Bring
the family as we commemorate the historic
station’s 100th birthday with an open house
featuring train displays, live entertainment,
memorabilia exhibits, station tours and more.
Thanks for riding with us today—I hope
your experience has been a great one. If
there’s anything we can do to make it even
better, please don’t hesitate to let the onboard crew know.
Sincerely,
ALEX KUMMANT
President and
Chief Executive Officer
