CITY GUIDE
Providence
create your own gourmet fare. Chef Walter’s
Cooking School, led by the Italian-born but
Rhode Island–famous chef, o ers lessons in
Italian cooking and beyond. In January, shake
o the winter cold with a lesson in hearty
stews, or learn the art of handmade filled pasta.
February’s classes cover everything from the
foods of Naples and northern Italy to a chocolate and port wine tasting.
Although the food is the attraction here,
the setting is second to none. Walter’s state-of-the-art teaching facility is perched above
his Federal Hill restaurant, overlooking De-Pasquale Square in the heart of Providence’s
Italian community. The one-night-only lessons include all of your materials, two hours
for preparation and one to enjoy the fruits
(or tiramisu) of your labor. Buon appetito!
