short, headless horseman’s ride north of Penn Station.
Although the day itself and many of its traditions are
centuries old and derive from a variety of European
cultures, they all came together nearly 200 years ago in
the imagination of writer Washington Irving at his little
Westchester County town of Sleepy Hollow.
