Feed the need to read
“There hasn’t been a book festival in
Boston for many years, and we have big
plans to make this an annual, world-class
event,” says Boston Book Festival founder
and president Deborah Porter. And there’s
no shortage of local authors to get the word-fest started. Among those participating in
the inaugural event are Ken Burns ( The
National Parks), Anita Diamant ( The Red
Tent), Henry Louis Gates Jr. (Lincoln on Race
and Slavery) and Elinor Lipman (Then She
Found Me).
Venues throughout the city—including the
Boston Public Library, Old South Church and
Trinity Church, and Copley Square for outdoor
events—host presentations, panels, writing
workshops and publishing seminars as well as
spoken-word and musical performances.
