A Healthy Day
Get out and enjoy the
parks, trails and nourishing food of America’s
Monument City
Baltimore is one of the first major U. S. cities to appoint a food czar to encourage the growth of farm-to-table eating.
Its historic sites, world-class museums
and healthy eateries make it the perfect
destination to mix fitness with pleasure.

EARLY MORNING: ARTFUL SALUTATIONS
Add a new dimension to your yoga practice at the Baltimore Museum of Art,
home to the world’s largest Matisse collection. The museum’s galleries inspire
a variety of yoga and meditation classes.
The colors in the Arts of Africa gallery
align with the colors of the chakras, and
a 600-year-old Guanyin sculpture in the
Arts of Asia gallery encourages a medi-tative journey. Summer means yoga
moves to the 3-acre sculpture garden,
where Alexander Calder’s 100 Yard Dash
is your partner for sun salutations and
warrior poses.
“The sculpture
garden is really a
best-kept secret,”
says Anne Mannix,
communications
director. 10 Art

to experience the striking, Gilded Age

EVENING: SEASONAL EATS
Marilyn Waranch of the France-Merrick
Performing Arts Center is a fan of the
farmers market–inspired menu at The
Wine Market in Locust Point. “I take
my cast members when they want to eat
healthy,” she says.
The polished warehouse-style space
opens to a cozy courtyard patio. As for
the food, try the rare sesame seared
tuna wrap with spicy kimchi, or the
vegetarian special of the day, such as
polenta hash with charred avocado
and poached egg. And why not try one
of the 30 wines by the glass—for your
daily dose of antioxidants, of course.
