Spider-Man Shines
Fresh from their appearance at the Tony
Awards, the stars of Spider-Man: Turn Off the
Dark (Reeve Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
and Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane) performed
at the show’s Broadway opening at Foxwoods
Theatre June 14 to an enthusiastic audience that
included—in addition to the show’s own Bono
and The Edge, who composed the music for the
high-flying spectacle—Spike Lee, Matt Damon,
Liam Neeson, Steve Martin, President Bill Clinton
and Julie Taymor, the show’s original director.

The Fourth at
Monticello
On July 4, scores of
new Americans took
the oath of citizenship
at a special ceremony
at Thomas Jefferson’s
beloved hilltop home,
Monticello, in Virginia.
The event was the 49th
annual Independence
Day Celebration and Naturalization
Ceremony to be held at the historic site.
