First Class
If you have visions of brackets dancing in your head, then that can only mean one thing: March
Madness has arrived. The 2008 NCAA men’s basketball tournament begins March 18 with a
play-in game between the bottom two teams. The tournament starts in earnest March 20, when
the ever-unpredictable first round will be held at arenas across the country, including the Verizon
Center in downtown Washington, D.C. Georgetown University, which played in the Final Four in
2007, is expected to be there, along with other basketball powerhouses like the University of
Connecticut, Boston College and Villanova. But the beauty of March Madness is when Cinderella
teams make it deep into the tournament. Just ask the students at George Mason University—the
Fairfax, Va., college shocked the sports world by making the Final Four in 2006.
