Best place to feel like you
live in old-world NYC
Lafayette House on Bowery

For those intrepid travelers who prefer to skip
the uber minimal for something a bit more old-world
and cozy, the Lafayette House is just the destination.
Opened in early 2007, hotel gurus Eric Goode
and Sean MacPherson restored this once-grand
Victorian building to its former 1845 glory. Here, many
of the petite rooms operate like intimate studios,
offering kitchenettes, private gardens, brocade sofas,
crystal chandeliers, fireplaces, and work areas featuring
vintage stationery. If whipping up some Campbell’s isn’t
on the menu, guests can order in from the Bowery Bar
restaurant right next door. Because even the truly old-school still need their modern conveniences.
