Leonard
Palooza
Commemorating a maestro
There’s a fest for us, somewhere a fest for us
who love Leonard Bernstein, composer of the
beloved musicals West Side Story, On the Town
and Candide, as well as film scores, symphonies
and countless contributions to music. Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic’s
“Bernstein: The Best of All Possible Worlds,”
marks the 90th anniversary of Bernstein’s
birth and the 50th anniversary of his being
named music director of the Philharmonic.

New York
The celebration began in September, but it’s
not too late to join the party, with myriad
events in November and December.

Philharmonic, with music from the movie On
the Waterfront and suites from West Side Story
(Nov. 14). “Discovery Day” is an exploration
of Bernstein as social activist and New Yorker,
with multimedia presentations and special

Nov. 8-23); New York City Center’s Encores!
performance of On the Town (Nov. 19-23); and
