John Patrick Pullen has written about everything from tech to travel for publications including Boston Magazine, Fortune and Men’s Journal. As a freelancer, he works from home—so despite writing about third places (pg. 32) for this issue, he doesn’t have one of his own. Or even a second place, for that matter.
Daniel Pelavin began his career as an artist in the days when Adobe was primarily known as a construction material. Pelavin uses a vocabulary of geometric forms; rich, flat colors; and letterforms inspired by a wide range of 20th- century cultural ephemera.
Pete Caldera has covered baseball for the Bergen Record since 2000, first on the New York Mets beat and now as the New York Yankees beat writer. He is a past chairman of the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, and lives in Manhattan.
John Francis McCarthy has photographed extensively in Ireland and the Finger Lakes region of New York. His travels have also taken him to Europe, Hong Kong and the western United States. His latest book, Finger Lakes—Light and Color, will be published in August 2009.
correction: The Obama-Biden train to the Inauguration was an Amtrak charter train comprised of Northeast Regional equipment. It was not an Acela Express train, as reported in the RSVP section of the March-April issue. Arrive regrets the error.
