The Thunder rolls: The Trenton Thunder Minor League Baseball team celebrated back-to-back Eastern League championships last September by rolling past the Akron Aeros. The Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees was named “Team of the Year” among 160 franchises around the country. Off the field, the local chamber of commerce named the team “Distinguished Corporation of the Year.” The Thunder provides families in central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania with the best in affordable entertainment. Nineteen fireworks shows are on this season’s schedule, along with giveaways for kids and adults, theme nights and special events. All that jazz at Lincoln Center: NEA jazz master McCoy Tyner jump-started his career at just 17, when he rocked the keyboard for John Coltrane’s 1960 classic recording, My Favorite Things, becoming the core of one of the most seminal jazz groups of all time. His blues-based piano style, replete with sophisticated chords and an explosively percussive left hand, has transcended conventional styles to become one of the most identifiable sounds in improvised music.
