On May 18, First Lady
Michelle Obama was
joined by New York City
students at the ribbon-
cutting ceremony
officially reopening the
Met’s newly renovated
American Wing. Federal,
state and city officials,
including New York
City Mayor Michael
Bloomberg, were in
attendance.
Cooper-Hewitt,
National Design
Museum’s
“Design for a
Living World”
On May 13, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum and The Nature
Conservancy celebrated the opening of “Design for a Living World.”
The exhibition showcases 10 designers who were commissioned to
develop new uses for sustainably grown and harvested materials.
Isaac Mizrahi, who created a salmon-skin ensemble with matching
shoes, showed off his work for nearly 500 guests at the NYC event. The
exhibit runs through Jan. 4, 2010.
