Spiedies. Crab bombs. Bobbies. These
are names of foods.
But unless you’ve been to Binghamton,
N. Y., Lanham, Md., or Wilmington, Del.,
you likely wouldn’t know that.
Let me enlighten you. A spiedie, as
they call it in upstate New York, is a
skewer of marinated meat that you place
in a squishy piece of white bread and
pull o the stick. A crab bomb, as any
Maryland native will tell you, is basically
a humongous crab cake. And a Bobbie, as
