Adventures by Moonlight
Explore the great
outdoors by the light
of the silvery summer
moon
BY CATHLEEN MCCARTHY
If you’ve ever seen the ocean glittering
under the stars, you know how nightfall
transforms the outdoors. That magical
change and the thrill of being in the wilderness after dark explain why moonlit
excursions are becoming so popular.
Now you can paddle rivers under a full
moon with the safety of a guide, or bike
mountain trails as the sun goes down.
Moonlight tours usually start just
before nightfall, so you can see the sun set
on the way out and then watch the moon
transform the landscape into a mystical
wonderland. Adventures range from
quiet stargazing to adrenaline-fueled
white-water romps. Howling at the moon
is an old tradition, after all, and rivers and
woods have always been popular gather-
ing places on hot summer nights.
