A major hit on the Great White Way, it was later turned into a feature film in 1967, with most of the stage cast repris- ing their roles. In the new production, Radcli;e, who last trod the boards on Broadway in 2007 in a critically acclaimed pro- duction of Equus, takes over as Finch, while Larroquette takes on Biggley. For Larroquette, the show holds a variety of high-water marks. “;e show remains popular and rel- evant because it’s good,” he says. “;at may seem trite, but that’s much of the reason why people love it. And I believe that we all still pull for the underdog and like the idea of success coming to those who strive for it, even if they don’t have the expected résumé.” Beyond that, Larroquette says that one particular number holds a special place in his heart. “In high school in New Orleans, I was a member of the marching band and played at all the football games,” he re- calls. “So singing ‘;e Chipmunk Fight Song’ in ‘Grand Old Ivy’ will be a treat.” Most likely, it won’t be the only song to get a cheer from audiences.
