enables users to compile routines, choose
from other users’ workouts, amass exercise
logs and monitor progress through metrics
such as weight tracking. Users can select
exercises from these magazines’ databases
by body part, by available fitness gear and
by goals, and workouts are accompanied
by photos and videos that demonstrate proper form.
Although, at $5.99, the app costs more than other
mobile apps in this category, the number of exercises it
offers is staggering, and it is a universal app that works
on iPhones, iPods and iPads. Android is not supported
currently, but the highly popular Men’s Health Workouts
and Women’s Health Workouts apps on that platform
provide a similar experience at a lower cost, though

JAWBONE UP
Best known for producing great Bluetooth headsets, Jawbone has a new
product that will put the company’s finger on the pulse of, well, everything. This
band, which isn’t much thicker than a LIVESTRONG bracelet, tracks and analyzes eating, sleeping and movement, aiming to improve the wearer’s overall
health. By connecting Up to a mobile phone, users can upload their data to a
Web interface or a mobile app, and wearing it as much as possible improves the
device’s accuracy. The app also captures nutrition information about food eaten
by wearers and suggests meals that will have them feeling their best. So, for
example, if a user hasn’t slept much and checks in with the app upon waking,
Up may suggest a high-protein breakfast with a little more water than usual. Talk
