Food Fests, Fairies and Wishful Drinking
What better way to start the new year than with
an evening of Wishful Drinking—Carrie Fisher’s
honest and hysterical account of her Hollywood
life: “I always say, if my life weren’t funny, it would
just be true and that would not be acceptable,”
Fisher said during an interview to promote her
one-woman show, playing Baltimore’s Hippo-
drome Theatre Jan. 31 through Feb. 12 (see Mary-
land section). The first part of the year also serves
up some of the most creative cuisine dished out
by top chefs at food fests in Boston and Wilming-
ton (where you’ll get to meet TV’s newest Master
Chef ). Explore tales of “Folk and Fairies: The Life
and Work of Katharine Pyle” at the Delaware Art
Museum. And learn about ordinary Americans
with extraordinary legacies at the National Consti-
tution Center in Philly. Plus, so much more! Be sure
to check out event websites for special rail fare
discounts and other ways to save some cash.

Edward Burne-Jones created
a series of circular images,
each inspired by the name

artist’s death, these images
were published as individual,
hand-colored collotypes
that are so brilliantly printed
they are often mistaken
as original watercolors.
This exhibition features
all 38 images. Delaware Art
