Opened in September, Hyatt 48 Lex is a stand-
out in midtown Manhattan for its distinctively warm
and inviting style. Upon arrival, travelers are greeted
curbside and welcomed by a personal host. From
there, they can discover the true heart of the hotel,
Lexicon Lounge. Designed by renowned architect
Nobutaka Ashihara as a new interpretation of the
traditional hotel, the second-floor lounge is a com-
fortable space to relax with complimentary beverages
and snacks—including a daily selection by the hotel
pastry chef such as chocolate zucchini cake, Nutella
bonbons and zesty lemon bars. With a sleek fireplace
and iPad availability, it has already become a popular
place for intimate book readings and events. Lexicon
Lounge also overlooks one of the hotel’s
green rooftops, which creates a natural
complement to the Lexington Avenue
streetscape below. Throughout Lexicon
Lounge, guests find original artwork,
tables crafted by a Brooklyn woodworker
and selections from luxury publisher As-
souline. Sta; members and the concierge
are always on hand to make recommen-
dations or snag theater tickets.
The hotel comprises 116 studios
and suites styled for discerning travel-
ers and featuring soothing gray tones
and dramatic street views. In-room butler’s pantries
go giant steps beyond mere minibars, with locally
sourced treats like Brooklyn Beer, Dean & Deluca
treats, Jacques Torres chocolates and North Fork
Potato Chips. There’s even a hand-curated selection
of wines by the half-bottle in each room. And for a
great night’s sleep on a full stomach? The renowned
Hyatt Grand Bed.
