Focus on Education
Welcome aboard!
The economy is a main topic in our
national dialogue, and it will no doubt continue to be as the country prepares for a
presidential election later this year.
One of the most important factors for
long-term economic stability—education— is
the focus of this issue. In the following pages,
you’re invited to read about various issues
related to the way we prepare future generations for success, and you will meet people
who are doing something about those issues.
One way Amtrak supports education is
through our Campus Visit® Program. We
serve numerous college towns throughout
the United States, and students represent a
large portion of our ridership in these areas.
So to help make the process of selecting a
school more a;ordable for families, we’ve
partnered with Collegia to o;er special fare
discounts. Parents and high schoolers traveling to visit colleges can buy one ticket and
get a second at 50 percent o;. For details,
visit campusvisit.com/amtrak.
Amtrak’s more direct contributions to the
economy are represented through the mobility and connectivity we provide to people all
over the country. We make reaching major
metropolitan cities easy for residents of
smaller towns, enabling them to access bigger job markets and build businesses.
That connectivity has also sparked
considerable commercial and residential
development, o;ering local economies
growth opportunities that would not otherwise exist. From Maine to Mississippi to
California, we’ve helped communities grow
their economies and increase tourism. You
can read case studies and learn more at
greatamericanstations.com.
I hope you enjoy reading the rest of this
issue. As always, our aim is to make your experience with us the best it can be. If we can do
anything to make your trip better, please let a
member of the on-board crew know.
Thank you for choosing Amtrak.
