On May 15, actress Gillian Anderson hosted the “Birds of a Feather” gala benefit to celebrate the opening of “Peacock Room REMIX: Darren Waterston’s
Filthy Lucre,” at the Smithsonian’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery in Washington,
D.C. Waterston’s Filthy Lucre reimagines the painter James McNeill Whistler’s
“Peacock Room,” a 19th-century dining room, in an installation described as
one that “probes the personal and historical drama behind one of the greatest
masterpieces of American art.”
