THE ‘PILGRIMAGE’
OF ANNIE LEIBOVITZ
Annie Leibovitz debuted “Annie
Leibovitz: Pilgrimage” during an
opening reception Nov. 19 at the
New-York Historical Society. The
exhibition of more than 70 photographs captured a di;erent side of
the photographer best known for
celebrity portraits. In the photos,
Leibovitz shares her curiosity about
the world through landscapes,
house interiors and objects evoking
historical figures, including Ralph
Waldo Emerson, Eleanor Roosevelt
and Elvis Presley.

SMITHSONIAN’S
ARTLAB+ TEENS AT
THE WHITE HOUSE
Six local teens from the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden’s ARTLAB+ program
discussed technology and education with school superintendents at
the White House Superintendents
Summit on Nov. 19. The ARTLAB+
after-school program provides teens
with resources and technology to
learn digital-media skills and pursue
creative projects.
