The Boston Pops, led by Keith Lockhart,
celebrates its 125th anniversary, May 4 to
June 20, in Symphony Hall. The opening
gala features star of Wicked, Idina Menzel,
and the inimitable Doc Severinsen. The season includes a world premiere work honoring
the Kennedy brothers, the 10th anniversary
of radio and TV show “From the Top,” artists from different genres including Dave
Brubeck, Kelli O’Hara, Maureen McGov-ern, and Arlo Guthrie, and honors musical
legends Ray Charles, Duke Ellington, Cole
Porter, and Rodgers and Hammerstein. Also,
John Williams leads a film music series,
marking his 30th anniversary with the Pops.
