KEMBREL
Kembrel began when
Wharton MBAs Stephan
Jacob and Cherif Habib
decided to give their campus
neighbors a hassle-free flash-sale website specializing
in fun, deeply discounted
merchandise for men and
women. Success, paired with
a shop-local ethic, led to a
campaign of pop-ups whose
flagship is nestled next to
the famous department store
Boyds. Since February 2011
it has welcomed a constant
flow of students of upscale
urban style. 1822 Chestnut

One of five green spaces that William
Penn had included in his original city plan,
Rittenhouse Square shows o; Philadelphia
at its brotherly best. Residents and visitors
of all stripes enjoy this park’s open space
and public artworks, as well as views of
the historic architecture all around. These
grand buildings began replacing local brick
factories in the mid-19th century, and today
they house upscale businesses.
