Named one of the Top 100 “Best Values in Public Colleges” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance for a ninth consecutive year, and as one of “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes, Salisbury University and its academic
programs, faculty and facilities have earned a growing reputation for excellence. The university, led by
President Janet Dudley-Eshbach, is home to four
privately endowed schools, offering 42 majors and
16 graduate programs, including new doctorates in
education and nursing practice. Three online master’s
degrees reach students outside the 182-acre campus,
just a few hours from Baltimore on Maryland’s scenic
Eastern Shore. SU students have consistently won
national and international fellowships, including the
Fulbright, while faculty are the recipients of numer-
ous state and national teaching honors. Its athletic
program, too, has earned numerous laurels, includ-
ing 18 NCAA Division III national championships in
men’s and women’s lacrosse and field hockey.
Part of the SU mission is to prepare its 8,700
students to be global citizens. To that end, students
have interned in state and local governments; started
businesses via campus entrepreneurship contests;
provided aid in Latin America and Africa; studied
abroad in China and Estonia; and given back to their
own community through events like the Sea Gull
Century bike ride, which brings an estimated $2.5
million to the Lower Eastern Shore each fall. The SU
student body also enjoys vibrant cultural offerings,
including guest speakers like South Africa’s F. W.
de Klerk; engages with two National Public Radio
affiliates; and participates in musical ensembles and
theater productions. Prospective students and visitors
can expand their horizons—academically, culturally
and globally—at Salisbury University.
