Trenton Thunder: Last
September, the Minor
League Baseball team
celebrated back-to-back
Eastern League championships after rolling past the
Akron Aeros. The Thunder,
the Double A affiliate of
the New York Yankees,
was named “Team of the
Year” (from over 160 franchises). Look for 2008 stars
Austin Jackson, Phil Coke
and Mark Melancon to be
impact players in the Major
Leagues in the coming
years. In the meantime, the
Thunder provides families in Central New Jersey
and Eastern Pennsylvania
with the best in affordable
entertainment. Nineteen
fireworks shows are on the
schedule, along with giveaways for kids and adults,
theme nights and special
events. During this past season, the club welcomed its 6
millionth fan, and surpassed
400,000 in attendance for
the 14th year in a row. This
year, the Thunder is pleased
to host the 2009 Eastern
League All-Star Game,
July 15, at Waterfront Park
in Trenton. The Thunder
begins its run toward a third
consecutive Eastern League
Championship on April 8.
