Exploring the magic of
Jim Henson
Run, don’t walk, because there’s still time to
catch the fabulous, furry exhibit “Jim Henson’s
Fantastic World,” which runs through Jan. 16
at Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria.
Get up close and personal with 15 famous puppets on display, including Kermit the Frog, his
on-again off-again amour Miss Piggy, Rowlf
the dog, and everyone’s favorite roommates,
Bert and Ernie. In total, more than 120 items
span Henson’s career, starting as far back as
his college years.
Drawings, photographs, props, posters
and more from Henson’s most beloved works,
such as The Muppet Show, Sesame Street and
The Muppet Movie, are prominently featured.
But visitors also have the chance to learn
about lesser-known Henson creations, such

early incarnation of Kermit; quirky TV commercials made in the 1960s; sketches on The
